As a kid, I used to have fantasies about living the life of a hermit in the Pyrenees Mountains or the misty minty forests which you find in those pictures on the covers of free photo albums. Unlike most of my peers in school who were into Spiderman or Superman, Robinson Crusoe and Rumpelstiltskin were my favourite fictional characters. I always thought I would like a quiet solitary sort of lifestyle. 15 years later, I have come to realise that I was wrong.
I really detest being left alone. The last two weeks have been painfully slow and while I enjoy the fact that I have the time to do the things which I previously did not (like reading good fiction and watching old movies on DVD), I miss having human interaction. All my friends in the Gold Coast have gone back to their home countries and this place is dead...beautiful and sunny as always but dead. Oh well...just one more week to go before I go off vacationing in Sydney and Canberra and then I'll be back in Uni with my friends. At least I've learnt more about myself through this experience...I need people and I need a good support system. Not a lot of people...just a few good ones.
So since I have the time, I will fill you in all with other happenings of my life...
1) I've applied for Permanent Residency in Australia. It will be difficult for me to leave the country until my PR gets approved. This could take anytime between 3 months to a year.
2) I've failed my driving test. Yes, again. This time I flunked it for driving on the wrong side of the road - on a school zone!!! Oh well, I am getting better though...really, I am! Next test is on the 6th of Jan...nothings gonna stop me from getting my license...grrrr...
3) On a more positive note, I got a letter from Education Queensland saying that I got an S1 rating. Basically, all teachers in Queensland are graded on their final prac to see how suitable and effective they are as teachers and I got the highest rating possible. The news was even sweeter because I was the only one in the school to have gotten it...hahaha..yes, I have a healthy competitive streak in me.
Oh well...you lose some and you gain some.
cheers,
Kartik
