Those who can, teach...or attempt to.
Work is really getting overwhelming. Teaching seems to have consumed my life. I probably spend about 15-16 hours a day on school work and no matter how much I do, it just never seems to be enough...lesson plans, extra curricular actitivities, assessment tasks, reporting tasks, staff meetings, work programs, excursions, sports days, stock taking, parent interviews, budgeting, more lesson plans, discipline reports, planning for students with special needs, professional development workshops...the list goes on. On the positive side, these things keep me going and I feel a real sense of purpose in my life..I just wish I led a lifestyle that is more balanced...where I don't go to sleep everyday thinking of school, school, school and only school.
Another small piece of news..I got a raise! I've only been on the job for 5 weeks but the government has increased wages for teachers by 4% across the board. That translates to an additional 2000 bucks a year. Money always makes me happy.
I'm thinking of applying for a PhD...yeapz, again. I've been thinking about this for years now and I think I should just stop thinking...and just do it. The motivation to do one is even stronger now since as an Australian Resident, I get to do it for FREE. Will keep you guys posted.
cheers,
Kartik
